Can Linux really pose challenge to Microsoft?
I am not writing this because I use the Linux more than the M$ products…
Microsoft is an MNC giant. Just like General Motors (GM) or Toyota. M$ has long been the biggest in software/IT industry. We do all read about those entire good and bad fixations about both Linux and M$ products. The real question is “can Liunx through out M$?”
M$ is like dinosaur. Size made them powerful. However, one day they are gone and we can still see the mosquito. Dino could not adapt to changing environment and mosquito could… Lesson is obvious for anybody especially for M$. Big size has some advantages too like M$ buys the small emerging companies, bargains for lowest price from supplier etc. And disadvantage? If something goes wrong on bigger scale, it makes matter worse for them. For example MSN search engine they spent lots of money but it is not near anywhere to Google or Yahoo. So small can beat the biggest giants
Until then the battle will go on… and today’s small Linux will win one day… amen

How to convince a friend to use Open Source product
Okay the task is as follows my friend and his mom stays in small house. Both of them use computer frequently for various purpose as millions of users across India uses the pirated software so they also uses the same. My task of the month is to convey them message of Open Source and covert them to Linux user. So here how I started:
1) Cost : I tried to explain them the cost related factor … while my friend (raj) paid more attention to games on PC while his mother (mom) went into inside to get us some cookies and tea (so that I can eat and vanish)
2) Well I had to vanish but before that, I was manage to get list of application they are currently using and I had to change my tick tacks next time according to this:
Here is what mon is using (2-3 days in a week):
a) MS-Word to type the letters and some personal docs
b) Internet – Yahoo messenger software’s, Web based email only and other web sites using IE (not even firefox )
c) OS – What is that? I just use my dam computer … oh you mean Windows… ? For her windows and computer are like soul and she couldn’t think of anything else (it makes my job even harder)
Here is what raj is using (almost everyday 3-4 hrs):
1) Internet – Yahoo, ICQ and IE
2) Programming - Turbo C and C++, Visual Basic and Personal Oracle for University studies
3) Games – Many games from chess to 2D and 3D shooter games (you just name it and he has it)
4) Multimedia – Winapm MP3 player, Real Player, Windows MP 10
5) OS – Windows XP
6) MS-Word – Project typing and other personal docs
6) Email – Both web based and MS-Outlook
7) And Norton anti virus is the only legal software bundled with system…
PC is latest P4 system with 512 MB DDR RAM and 80 GB Hard disk drive with DVD/CD/RW combo drive… it is quite powerful system… :)
Moreover, Internet connection is 128kbps DSL connection from Airtel Broadband with USB Modem (not sure, whether both ISP and modem are compatible with Linux)
Okay so while test of good cookies remains in my mouth my mind was already down … how the hell on this earth I’m gone convince then to use Linux… battle is 1 down but not over yet… I have to work out better next time & I will play my move in 2-3 days time :)
Okay got to get back to home for studies I have viva comming up on my mini project :((

Infosys hireing 500 people in us
This is surprising when I first heard. Most US companies firing local staff and outsourcing IT jobs to India for cost, quality etc. Most of the business decision makers in west think that cheap cost and high quality will help them to grow with profits (and economy).
So is Infosys attempting a reverse job drain? (Ok I am not against it coz I know when you lost job and pain related to it …) May be they are but they are doing it for themselves. They may become more powerful in consulting business and they are already hiring best business minds in US. Just DELL changes the way pc business done similarly Infosys is leading

Kay kool Hain Hum
Just I can say fun fun fun :D
A good comedy movie it is made of one-liners kool jocks. The humor most the time is romantic (sex?) kind.
Just one friendly advice don’t go with your mum or dad ;)
My rating ****/5
